Cage Warriors Announces Unplugged 2 Event for September 6th

Cage Warriors have announced their second Unplugged event, a one night Grand Prix, in BT Sports Studios in London. The card will be invite only but will air on BT Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

The tournament will be a 4 man bantamweight tournament with what Cage Warriors says will feature, “an exciting card of emerging talent for a one-night, four man bantamweight title tournament.” With Cage Warriors putting in over 90 fighters to the UFC, they’re sure to deliver.

The card will serve as a double header with possibly the biggest MMA card of the year as Khabib Nurmagomedov will defend his title against interim lightweight champ, Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in Abu Dabi. “We are excited to be part of this. We like to do innovative things, like Unplugged. I want to thank BT Sport and UFC FightPass for making this happen,” says Cage Warriors CEO, Casimir Knight. The tournament will conclude with the crowning of a new bantamweight champion. The former Cage Warriors bantamweight champ, Jack Shore, went on to sign to the UFC.

There has not been any confirmed announcements of fighters that will be in the tournament, or what will fill out the rest of the card.

Cage Warriors Unplugged 1

The first Unplugged event was in 2016 and saw Paddy Pimblett and Chris Fishgold retain their titles at the end of the night. Now, three years later, Unplugged returns with more promotions, such as Bellator and ONE, doing their own tournaments, to positive reviews.

The promotion  held two events like this in 2013. In the tournaments, Brett Johns and Stevie Ray took home the bantamweight and lightweight titles. Both fighters went on to fight in the UFC.

The event, like the first Unplugged, will be invite-only and tickets will not be available to the general public due to space constraints in the BT Studios.
