Cain Velasquez says Ronda Rousey inspired his interest in pro wrestling
Former UFC champion Cain Velasquez is currently spending his time inside the squared circle in professional wrestling.
In 2019, Velasquez went to the WWE where he would meet another fellow UFC heavyweight champion in Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. The two men once fought in professional mixed martial arts with Velasquez getting the finish and taking Lesnar’s UFC heavyweight title. Lesnar would win the rematch in professional wrestling, leaving the two with a win a piece.
Ronda Rousey, the UFC’s first women’s champion also made the transition to professional wrestling, a year prior to Velasquez. Recently, both of these former UFC champions were at WWE HQ in Stamford Connecticut. That is where the two ran into each other and Velasquez would credit Rousey for being an inspiration to help get him into the wrestling entertainment industry.
“Had the pleasure of running into the pioneer that definitely also inspired my interest in the sport. Great to see you @rondarousey. @wwe”
