CES 42 co-main event, Luis Felix vs. Dawond Pickney
The “Rockstar” Luis Felix returns to the CES MMA cage on March 31 at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I., LIVE on AXS TV Fights, versus Arkansas’ Dawond Pickney.
Following a series of injuries, Felix, the pride of Cranston, R.I., couldn’t contain his excitement while signing his bout agreement at Arias Lounge in Providence.
“It’s been way too long. I just can’t wait to be back in there, man,” said Felix, who has fought 10 times in the CES MMA cage since making his debut at CES 1. “During my long layoff it made me realize that you can’t take your time in this sport for granted, and I’m just excited to make up for lost time.”
But Pickney, a Bellator MMA vet with 17 pro fights on his record, plans on stealing Felix’s thunder.
“I’m coming to make a statement,” said Pickney. “The fans up in New England might not know too much about me right now, but they will once that cage door locks. I’m coming to fight, and I’m coming to win.”
Felix is quick to praise Pickney for his experience, toughness and willingness to enter hostile territory. But “Rockstar” predicts his hand will be raised, one way or another, when the dust finally settles at Twin River Casino.
“I’m going to win,” Felix said with his trademark smirk. “Whatever it takes, I’m going to win.”
“We’re excited to have Luis back in the CES MMA cage,” added CES MMA Matchmaker Pat Sullivan. “Based on his activity from a series of injuries, this is a non-title fight.”
