Chael Sonnen has two armed security guards assigned after Jorge Masvidal threats
Former UFC title contender Chael Sonnen will work the desk this weekend at UFC 299 in Miami, Florida, but he won’t be alone.
“The American Gangster” has two-armed security guard who are giving him a little extra protection after threats from Jorge Masvidal.
“I’m in Miami, I’m at an undisclosed location and I can’t have anything on the wall, because nobody’s allowed to know where I am,” Sonnen said. “Who made those rules? Those two [security guards] who will be standing at my door all night. Why Chael, are you telling us that you have a blank wall behind you with two security guards who will be staying all night when you are about to go to sleep because you are in Miami? Well, I’ve been threatened by Jorge Masvidal. I am at a separate location than everybody else with two security guards because I’ve been threatened by Jorge Masvidal.”
The feud started not long ago when Masvidal was on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani and said he would want to fight Sonnen, and went off on the 46-year-old former fighter..
“But Chael would be one guy I would love to break his eye orbital,” Masvidal said. “Just because he’s such a cheating f***. He’s gotten caught with more substances in his body than any other competitor in history. At one time he had six or seven difference substances in his body for one of his title fights. You’re a f****** piece of s*** human being. You could go out there and hurt somebody just so you can f****** make a paycheck? Because when you’re on steroids, as everybody knows you become a super soldier. So Chael would be somebody I would love to f*** up. And I would just tell him do all the steroids you want, it doesn’t matter. I’m still going to break your eye orbital.”
Sonnen responded shortly after stating, “Jorge Masvidal tried to come at me and call me a fake gangster. I have more felonies than he does, which is jailhouse talk. I wouldn’t expect any of you to be impressed by that, but it means he sleeps on the bottom bunk, and he will know what that means,” Sonnen said on his YouTube channel.
Masvidal is no stranger to attacking foes in public, most recently the attack on Colby Covington that was serious enough to make its way through court system.
