Jorge Masvidal pleads guilty but will not serve jail time in Colby Covington assault case

Former UFC welterweight title contender Jorge Masvidal pled guilty to misdemeanor battery today in the assault case involving former friend, Colby Covington.

“F*** you, Colby,” Masvidal said in a post on Instagram while standing next to his lawyer. “It’s going to be a f****** movie now. All these orders, all these restraining orders been lifted off. It’s going to be a f****** movie.”

Masvidal struck a plea deal with prosecutors with two other felony charges being dropped after he attacked Covington outside a restaurant in Miami back in March 2022.

Masvidal attacked Covington several weeks after his UFC 272 loss to Covington. The incident resulted injuries sustained such as a concussion and loss of a tooth.

Masvidal was arrested and charged with multiple felonies including aggravated battery and criminal mischief. If the now retired mixed martial artist was convicted on all charges, he faced up to 15 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. With the plea deal, Masvidal avoids jail as he was sentenced to time served and will also be responsible for paying court fees.
