Chatri Sityodtong on Reinier de Ridder’s heavyweight title challenge
ONE on TNT IV took place on Wednesday, April 28th. The ONE Championship event emanated from Singapore Indoor Stadium. I spoke with promotional figurehead Chatri Sityodtong on a dual division champ’s third title bid and the heavyweight division’s projected growth in the ONE on TNT IV Post-Fight Presser.

Dual division champ Reinier de Ridder calling for a heavyweight title shot and what the future holds
Chatri Sityodtong said, “Let’s see who wins the title fight first between (Brandon) Vera and (Arjan) Bhullar. Then I’d have to sit down. I was surprised, I had no idea that Reinier was gonna call out the heavyweight champ as well. No idea. I think it’s an interesting idea, and I’m open to it. But I just want to see what happens with the heavyweights first. Plus we’ve been really active in recruiting a lot of heavyweights from around the world, you know.”
“Rising stars or prospects like Reug Reug, letting them develop. I have big plans for the heavyweight division. I think that’s the one division where I’m not as proud of, in terms of the depth of athlete talent there. But I can tell you the last six months we’ve signed a lot of monsters. The heavyweight division has come on very, very strong.”
Someone in the talent pool that locally I’m interested in being a fellow Canadian is Dustin Joynson.
I’m kind of curious when Dustin Joynson can be expected to get into the ONE Circle there. Because I think he’s a great addition to the roster there.
“Yeah, exactly, exactly. But there’s a lot of talent we haven’t even announced as well at the heavyweight division. There’s so many incredible athletes around the world who don’t necessarily have huge names yet. But they’re actually outstanding athletes with real-world championship potential. And that’s what we’re looking for. We’re looking for athletes; the very best martial artists on the planet. With World Championship potential. We want the very best.”
