Chris Curtis got the big matchup with big time prospect, Vanderford, and would have been the biggest test for Vanderford to date. Curtis is a fan favorite and has great boxing. His last fight in PFL was a last minute replacement in the championship bout against Ray Cooper III. He lost the championship bout and went on to get a win in Z Promotions’ Fight Night 12.
Chris Curtis and Austin Vanderford
As mentioned above, Curtis would have been Vanderford’s biggest test yet. The 9-0 prospect is one of the best up and coming names on Bellator’s roster and has gone 3-0 since joining the promotion after the snub from the Contender Series. It is unclear if Bellator will be finding a replacement for Curtis so Vanderford can stay on the card or if the bout will be rescheduled entirely.
Curtis sits at 22-8 and was looking for a h0me. After a Contender Series shot and a stint in PFL, Chris Curtis signed with Bellator getting the big fight immediately. While Curtis isn’t on the card, he will still have a future with Bellator and will likely get the Vanderford fight upon recovery.
Bellator 251
Bellator 251 is the next card in the promotion’s upcoming events and is the debut of Corey Anderson, former UFC contender. He takes on the French Melvin Manhoef in a light heavyweight bout. Also on the card is former LFA title contender, Killys Mota, Tyrell Fortune and Said Sowma amongst others.
