Chris Weidman Ironically, And Horrifically Breaks Leg In Uriah Hall Rematch At UFC 261
Chris Weidman severely injured in Uriah Hall rematch:
Fans are back at UFC 261 for a sold-out crowd of 15,000 filling the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena tonight in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, April 24.
Tonight’s event hosts three epic championships fights, starting in the women’s flyweight division, then moving to the women’s strawweight division, before capping the night off with a welterweight rematch.
The feature bout of the night shows pound-for-pound great Valentina Shevchenko, who looks to defend her prestigious title for the fifth time tonight against former UFC women’s strawweight champion Jessica Andrade.
Weili Zhang looks to make the second defense of her title tonight against former UFC women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas, and Kamaru Usman headlines the event opposing Jorge Masvidal, looking to make the fourth defense of his UFC welterweight crown.
They met for the first time at UFC 251, and now they meet for the second time at UFC 261.
Former UFC middleweight champion, No. 11 ranked Chris Weidman faced a familiar face tonight, as he fought No. 9 ranked Uriah Hall for the second time. Ironically enough, on a card stacked with three title fights, the first time these two fought was also for a belt.
Weidman came into the fight with a record of 2-0, and he took Hall’s undefeated 4-0 record that night, as well as the ROC middleweight championship.
Weidman then defended the title once before coming to the UFC, while Hall lost his next bout to future middleweight contender Costa Philippou via majority decision, before making it to The Ultimate Fighter 17 three fights later.
Both of these men have had a great deal of success since then, but they’ve also both come up short a number of times.
All five of Weidman’s defeats come via knockout, while Hall is a knockout artist. Hall has been known to crumble under pressure, while Weidman can pressure him like no other with his elite wrestling and MMA grappling.

The two come out and touch gloves, and not long into the bout at all Weidman throws a hard leg kick, a very, very hard leg kick. Hall checks the kick, and that’s all she wrote, Weidman’s shin was folded in half over Hall’s leg, just before he fell over on it.
This was incredibly hard to watch happen, again, and it’s incredibly ironic that it happened to Chris Weidman.
Of course, the time we reference this to is when Weidman rematched Anderson Silva after taking his throne, where Silva threw a leg kick and Weidman checked it, breaking Silva’s leg.
Now another middleweight champion has fallen victim to the repercussions of throwing leg kicks. Just unbelievable.
