Cifers replaced Gatto to face Agapova at UFC’s June 13 event
Hannah Cifers is back again.
Only two weeks after her last bout, Cifers is returning to the cage to face Mariya Agapova at UFC Fight Night this Saturday, June 13. Cifers replaced Melissa Gatto, who withdrew from the bout with Agapova due to visa issues.
Combate first reported the news of Cifers making a comeback.
Her quick turnaround comes off a first-round submission loss to Mackenzie Dern at UFC on ESPN 9 on May 30. She is currently on a two fight skid, previously losing by second-round TKO to Angela Hill at UFC on ESPN+24 on Jan. 25.
Before two-consecutive losses, Cifers rattled off a pair of victories, including wins against Jodie Esquibel and Polyana Viana in 2019. The 27-year-old is 203 inside the octagon as she tries to avoid three-straight losses.
Agapova responded to her first professional loss to Tracey Cortez on Dana White’s Contender Series in July. She bounced back with back-to-back victories against Marilia Santos and Alexa Conners inside the Invicta FC cage.
This Saturday’s event is scheduled to take place inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The promotion is still waiting approval by the Nevada Athletic Commission, who is expected to make its decision today, Monday, June 8.
