Claressa Shields says Conor McGregor slid into her DMs – “You need to get comfortable being on your back”

Widely considered the greatest female boxer of all-time, Claressa Shields will once again be making the transition to professional mixed martial arts.

The undefeated boxer (14-0) will be returning to the PFL where her MMA record stands at 1-1. Earlier this month the promotion announced that the two-time Olympic gold medalist and three division boxing champion will return to the PFL SmartCage with a multi-year agreement.

The GWOAT says that she has even received support and advice from former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor. In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, “T-Rex” Shields says that “Mystic Mac” hit her up on social media.

“Conor McGregor inboxed me,” Shields told TMZ Sports. “Conor actually gave me some of the best advice today actually. He was just like ‘Don’t take away from your boxing. You need to get comfortable being on your back and comfortable with your wrestling.’

“That’s an honor and that’s a privilege for me, so thank you to Conor McGregor for that, and I look forward to working with him some.”

No official date has been set for Shields’ return to MMA. She is coming off a unanimous decision boxing win over Maricela Cornejo in June. Shields is looking to make her PFL SmartCage return in 2024.

She began her MMA training in 2020 under the tutelage of Roberto Alencar.
