Coach John Kavanagh, Conor McGregor

Coach John Kavanagh: “I’d bet anything Conor McGregor-Khabib Nurmagomedov happens in 2018”

Ever since Owen Roddy (Conor McGregor’s striking coach) came out an spoke his peace about the possibility of his head pupil fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov at some point this year, you get a certain feeling that this fight may actually come to pass.

And if McGregor’s head coach John Kavanagh is to be believed, especially after a recent interview with MMA Nytt‘s Robin Black, then we might definitely see this much-anticipated UFC Lightweight Championship clash in 2018.

“It’s the obvious fight, as his coach and as a fan,” Kavanagh said. “As a fan of MMA, it’s the fight I want to see as well. I would almost bet anything — almost bet anything — that fight happens before the end of the year.”

How can Kavanagh be so confident that this fight will happen you ask? For him, he can’t imagine any possible way it couldn’t happen.

“I can’t imagine it not happening,” Kavanagh said.

Of course, for all of this to be even more realistic, McGregor will have to have a good result come out of his expected return for a court hearing on July 26, he’s currently in negotiation for a plea deal and most likely will avoid jail time.
