Colby Covington alleges long-term steroid, drug use for Jon Jones

UFC 225’s co-main event combatant, Colby Covington, has made a name for himself using his mouth and in this recent interview from podcast ‘The Jim Norton and Sam Roberts Show’ ahead of his June 9th bout versus Rafael Dos Anjos, Covington is making headlines with his trash-talk game once again.

In the interview seen in the video below, Covington alleges that his former college roommate and light heavyweight GOAT (greatest of all time), Jon Jones, has been using steroids since his college wrestling days and, not only that, but he is also a longtime illicit drug user.

According to Colby, “He just started doing steroids and always freaking had roid rage.” Colby then further goes over instances of this so-called ‘roid rage’ in the interview which many steroid experts actually tend to believe is just a myth.

Colby also discusses Jon Jones’ recreational drug use in the interview below, which he also alleges began in college and hasn’t stopped since. “He started partying a lot. Doing Ecstasy, doing all these drugs and the rest of history. He’s been doing them since college.”

Although Covington’s banter should always be taken with a grain of salt, Jon Jones has in fact been caught and got in trouble for using both recreational drugs and performance enhancers in the past so perhaps there is some truth to what he is saying in this recent interview.

Convington’s trash talk game clearly knows no bounds and while other legendary trash talkers like Conor McGregor and Chael Sonnen seem to know how to carefully toe the line, Covington seems to relish in crossing it over and over again and that next-level trash-talking game may be part of the reason why he is getting a title shot at UFC 225 on Saturday night.

Colby’s apparent beef with Jon Jones goes back even further than this recent interview and he has previously made some other derogatory comments in the past about his former college roommate, Jones, in which Jones responded in kind.

Long-time UFC color commentator and podcast extraordinaire, Joe Rogan, even got involved at one point and responded to Colby’s rhetoric on his super popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, pretty much telling Colby to be careful who he’s talking about.

Colby then went after Rogan too of all people and hinted at a surprise in the post-fight interview come Saturday night, if he indeed emerges victorious versus Dos Anjos.

UFC 225 is headlined by the rematch between current UFC middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker, taking on Yoel Romero who unfortunately missed weight by .2lbs making it a non-title catchweight fight.

In the co-main slot, Colby Covington is taking on the former lightweight champion, Rafael Dos Anjos, in a battle for the interim welterweight championship. Also on the stacked main card is Holly Holm vs. Megan Anderson, Andrei Arlovski vs. Tai Tuivasa, plus the return of former WWE superstar CM Punk versus Mike Jackson following Punk’s disappointing UFC debut.
