Conor McGregor calls Nate Diaz the toughest person he has fought, anticipates the trilogy happening
Conor McGregor believes he will fight Nate Diaz again.
At UFC 196, Diaz stepped up on short notice and shocked many by submitting McGregor to hand him his first loss in the UFC. They then ran it back at UFC 202 where this time around, it was the Irishman edging out a very close decision. After the fight, many figured the trilogy would be booked in the near future, but that was not the case.
Now, reflecting back on some of his career, Conor McGregor revealed Diaz is the toughest person he has competed against.

“Nate Diaz. The west coast zombie,” McGregor said.
Fans then wondered if McGregor has an interest in the trilogy bout. Right now, he says he is focused on lightweight and is expected to fight Dustin Poirier in January. Despite that, the Irishman expects the trilogy to happen one day and is ready for it.
Excellent fighter! The trilogy will be of epic proportions when it goes down. Nathan, and his fighting styles, are never far from my thoughts throughout my own practices.

Conor McGregor is coming off a 40-second TKO win over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in January. Since then, he called to fight several times in 2020 but that did not come to fruition, and even retired again. He is now expected to fight Dustin Poirier in January where many are hinting at it being for the vacant lightweight title.
Nate Diaz, meanwhile, hasn’t competed since he lost to Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 for the BMF belt. Before that, he made his long-awaited return to defeat Anthony Pettis by decision at UFC 241 after the back-to-back fights against McGregor.
With McGregor fighting and focused at lightweight, it is likely the Diaz fight won’t be happening anytime soon. But, when it does, it will be a massive fight and event.
