Conor McGregor on Sinéad O’Connor – “The world has lost an artist with the voice of an Angel”

Famed Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor has died at the age of 56.

O’Connor rose to fame with her 1990 rendition of the Prince song “Nothing Compares 2 U,” which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 that same year.

Former two-division UFC champion Connor McGregor tweeted that the “world has lost an artist with the voice of an Angel.”

“Ireland has lost an iconic voice and one of our absolute finest, by a long shot,” McGregor said. “And I have lost a friend. Sinead’s music will live on and continue to inspire! Rest In Peace, Sinead you are home with your son I am sure.”

A second tweet stated, “What a Woman!
Rest In Peace, Sinead 🙏❤️”

Prior to that, McGregor tweeted that he was “gutted” on the singer’s death. When McGregor fought Chad Mendes for the UFC interim featherweight title at UFC 189, O’Connor sang live as he approached the octagon. It is one of the rare occasions where a singer performed at a live UFC event.
