Conor McGregor Sends Message of Support to Victorious Ian Garry: “I’m in on that Takeover Part 2! I’m coming back for that!”

Conor McGregor had nothing but praise for fellow countryman Ian Garry (8-0) after “The Future” won his UFC debut in emphatic fashion via 1st-round KO over Jordan Williams at UFC 268.

The former two-weight UFC champion posted a lengthy voice note on Twitter voicing his support for the 23-year-old’s announcement of a second Irish “takeover” in Garry’s post-fight interview with Joe Rogan:

“I love it, mate. I fucking love it! The Takeover Part 2. I’m in on that takeover part 2. I’m in on that takeover part 2. I’m coming back for that, yeah. I’ll be back for that. I’m all over that takeover part 2!” McGregor exclaimed.

Over seven years on from McGregor’s iconic “We’re not here to take part, we’re here to take over!” proclamation following his knockout of Diego Brandão in the UFC Dublin main event, an injured Conor McGregor voiced his appreciation for the nod of respect shown by Garry:

“I appreciate the respect you’re after showing me in there. At this time for me, coming back from that injury. That means a lot to me. This is probably the toughest couple of months I’m after having in my entire life!”

The first Irishman to win a Cage Warriors title since McGregor himself, Ian Garry has long been touted as one of the most promising prospects in Ireland. While it wasn’t one-way traffic against Williams, the emphatic nature of his perfectly-timed KO punch put the rest of the world on notice, and McGregor was unable to contain his excitement for the Dubliner:

“I swore I was going to just stay up and watch you fight.”

“I don’t know how I’m going to go to sleep!”

“I’m buzzing for you, [Ian]! I’m buzzing!”
