Cormier – Henderson booked for UFC 173 co-main event

UFC President Dana White announced today that light heavyweights Dan Henderson and Daniel Cormier will meet at the center of the octagon in the co-main event of UFC 173 in Las Vegas, Nv., May 23.

Champion Jon Jones is scheduled to meet Glover Teixeria this weekend at UFC 172.  Whoever wins that bout will defend against Alexander Gustafsson.

Cormier and Henderson will determine who challenges the winner of that bout.

Henderson (30-11) is coming off a knockout win over Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua last month in Brazil.

Cormier, undefeated at (14-0) recently defeated Patrick Cummins in February.

The fight was originally scheduled to take place as the co-main event July 5, for the Ronda Rousey vs. Alexis Davis bout.

UFC 173 is headlined by bantamweight champion Renan Barao defending against T.J. Dillashaw.
