Cris Cyborg on working at The Body Shop prior to Bellator 271

Cris Cyborg puts up her featherweight world championship belt against the heavy-handed Sinead Kavanagh on November 12th at Bellator 271. This is the main event of the Friday evening event emanating from Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, and broadcasts on Showtime.

Cyborg looks to notch the third successful title defense of her Bellator MMA reign. After capturing the Bellator belt against long-tenured titleholder Julia Budd, Cris Cyborg has subsequently defended her hardware against Arlene Blencowe and Leslie Smith.

The number one pound for pound ranked woman in the promotion again returns to defend her crown at 145 pounds. This legendary warrior has also garnered gold at featherweight during previous tenures in Strikeforce, Invicta FC, and UFC.

On this looming fight night, the Brazilian bruiser tests skills against the number five ranked Kavanagh. The SBG Ireland product has faced some of the very best the division has to offer and is riding back-to-back wins leading into this championship pursuit.

I spoke with Cris Cyborg at the virtual media day prior to this prizefight. The excerpt from our interaction is below.

Getting in work at The Body Shop and this last camp including both of Bellator’s featherweight world champions

“I want to shout out to The Body Shop. All their fighters are family over there. I’m really excited to show the work I did with Antonio McKee and his amazing coach. I’m always improving my wrestling. I train with Bob (Perez Jr) and Bob came in from training at The Body Shop before when he was young. I had the opportunity to train with Antonio McKee and I did this camp over there. With AJ (McKee) and all the fighters over there. I’m very happy. Training’s tough. Very good wrestlers and very excited.”

What do you see going down when Cris Cyborg vs Sinead Kavanagh takes place at Bellator 271?
