Cris Cyborg, Kayla Harrison

Cris Cyborg says Kayla Harrison has declined fight offer

One of the most anticipated bouts that was talked about following the merger of mixed martial arts promotions Bellator MMA and Professional Fighters League (PFL), was the possibility of pairing Bellator MMA women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg up against multi-time PFL tournament winner Kayla Harrison.

Over the past few years, the two ladies have thrown verbal and online jabs at one another with the intention of one day being able to cross paths.

Following the merger and a win over Aspen Ladd in November, Harrison turned up the heat and called Cyborg out by name.

That fight was then quickly dismissed as PFL CEO Peter Murray said he was going to do Bellator champions vs. PFL champions first.  With Kayla not currently holding a title that meant that Cyborg would be paired against Larissa Pacheco.

The bigger fight in the eyes of the fans would be for Cyborg to face Harrison and just when things seemed like they might be turned in that direction, Cyborg today provided an update that might state otherwise.

“I am disappointed to hear that after @PeteMurrayPFL offered me the date and location for a fight against @KaylaH and after we accepted the bout that she has now declined the offer,” Cyborg tweeted.
