Cris Cyborg wants rematch against Amanda Nunes; Dana White doesn't agree

Cris Cyborg still wants Amanda Nunes rematch

Cris Cyborg is still clamoring for a rematch against Amanda Nunes.

The two first fought last December at UFC 232 where Nunes shockingly knocked out Cyborg in the first round to become the featherweight champion. Immediately, many wanted to see an immediate rematch, but Cyborg ended up fighting out her contract against Felicia Spencer at UFC 240 and then signed in Bellator.

Although she is now in Bellator, Cris Cyborg is hoping she can be a part of cross-promotional fights.

“Before I signed with Bellator, the first thing I asked Scott for (is) maybe to have the possibility to fight (against UFC fighters) – the same he’s doing for Rizin (with) his champions fighting with champions in Japan. … I said maybe if he’ll be able to do that,” Cyborg said to TMZ.

One cross-promotional fight she wants is Nunes. She is adamant she wants the rematch and knows it will go differently. She says she just needs a one-fight deal in the UFC to make it happen.

“Cris Cyborg (vs.) Amanda Nunes – she’s the UFC champion, and I hope in the future (UFC) vs. Bellator champion, maybe the fight will happen. Scott said yes, we can do that,” Cyborg said. “Dana White (just has) to call him and make this happen, and I think everybody would like to watch.”

“One-fight deal – just call Scott.”

Currently, Cris Cyborg is set to make her Bellator debut on Jan. 25 against Julia Budd for the featherweight title. It is a highly-anticipated fight and one many think Cyborg will win and become a UFC champion, Bellator champion, Strikeforce champion, and Invicta FC champion.

Amanda Nunes, meanwhile, is set to defend her bantamweight title against Germaine de Randamie at UFC 245 in December. After that, she has made it known she wants to defend the featherweight title next.

Whether or not a rematch will ever happen is to be seen, but it seems highly unlikely the UFC will do a cross-promotional fight.
