Criszaida Adames (4-0) fearless heading into 1-night, 8-woman tournament at Combate Global

Criszaida Adames is on a path to bigger and better things inside the cage, and she is powering forward with no fears at all.  Adames will be one of eight, 115-lb female mixed martial artists competing this week, Friday the 13th of August in Miami, Florida for Combate Global.  The first two fights for each competitor are scheduled for one, five-minute round and the final two left will battle in a three-round fight with the same, five-minute rounds.

Adames trains out of Martinez BJJ in Northeast Philadelphia and MyMMANews stopped in at the beginning of fight week to talk about this very interesting test.  She tells us..

“When my manager and I talked to Will about the structure, he was all in. It’s a real test to possibly fight five, five-minute rounds but coach always has a plan to put me in the best position and I am confident in myself and  excited about this unique opportunity.  I’m just trying to get better and better every fight.”

Please check out our interview on the above link.  Criszaida talks about her newest training partner, Helen Peralta.  Peralta is also in camp for an Invicta appearance on August 27th against Caitlin Sammons.   Peralta has a couple of bare knuckle fights on her resume as well as 5 pro MMA fights and shares the Dominican heritage with Adames as well as the warrior mentality of chasing their dreams fighting and perfecting their craft.

Head trainer/coach Will Martinez says that Peralta and Adames have been awesome for one another and has seen both of them grow in the short time they have ben together.  Martinez is enjoying working with Helen who he calls a brawler and it sounds like it possibly could be a good combination as Will Martinez is a masterful tactician and breaks down the sport as well as anybody in the business.

As far as the Criszaida Adames tournament goes, Martinez talked game-plan with me but that will remain between us. With a good outing this week, Adames could very well be in line for an appearance on The Contender Series.  She will be looking to join her other coaches and teammates, Kyle and Chris Daukaus in the UFC.  You can see if coach Will and Criszaida are successful at Combate Global this Friday evening on as they go to battle at Univision Studios and will be streamed in the US via Paramount and on television via Univision and TUDN in Spanish.
