At age 42, Cung Le has decided to walk away from the world of mixed martial arts. Le first entered mixed martial arts fighting for the now defunct Strikeforce, going 7-1. He would then sign with the UFC, going 2-2, with his final fight a TKO loss to Michael Bisping at UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs. Le.

Le holds key victories over Rich Franklin and Patrick Cote in the UFC, and Frank Shamrock, Scott Smith, and Tony Fryklund in Strikeforce. Le would win the Strikeforce middleweight title after defeating Frank Shamrock.

Prior to his MMA career, Le was a well decorated Sanshou (kickboxing) competitor, going 17-0 with 12 knockout victories. Le looks to compete in stand-up competitions again, along with continuing his acting career in films.

Last year Le tested positive for high testosterone levels, he would then face a 12-month suspension. The suspension would eventually be lifted by the UFC due to the lack of proof that Le’s elevated HGH levels were caused by performance enhancing drugs. Le would then request his release from the UFC.

Le, along with other former UFC competitors, has joined in a class action lawsuit against the UFC, filing a joint action suit alleging the UFC is running a monopoly. Despite this lawsuit, UFC President Dana White and ZUFFA CEO Lorenzo Fertitta wished Le nothing but the best in his future endeavors.

“(Le) was such a huge piece of success of The Ultimate Fighter China. I loved working with him and wish him well in the future.” said White of Le.
