Jose Aldo Opens As (Barely) Favorite Over Conor McGregor
The bookies are opening UFC Featherweight champion Jose Aldo as the favorite in his upcoming title defense against the “Notorious” Conor McGregor, but not by much.
Aldo (25-1) is opening at -175, and McGregor (17-2) at +145 according to Bovada (sports.bovada.lv for those looking to place a bet).
For those of you unaware of how this works, if you were to place $100 on Conor McGregor, and he won, you would win back $145. If you were to bet on Aldo, you would have to bet $175 to win back $100.
McGregor has been on a tear in the UFC, now 5-0, with four TKO victories. McGregor’s charisma along with his wins, have boosted him into a title shot against arguably one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in Jose Aldo.
Aldo has cleaned house in the featherweight division, and is now 7-0 in the UFC. The fight is to take place on Memorial Day weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bovada does not have any other odds lined up for this event at the time.
