Curtis Blaydes explains where he has the edge over Jon Jones in future heavyweight fight

Top contender Curtis Blaydes explained where he believes he has the edge over Jon Jones in a future heavyweight fight between the two fighters.

Jones is arguably the greatest MMA fighter of all time already, but to cement his legacy as the sport’s GOAT, he is moving up to heavyweight in March to take on Ciryl Gane for the vacant UFC heavyweight title. If Jones wins, it would be hard not to consider him the greatest ever, if he’s not there already. And if he wins the heavyweight title, then there will be a long line of contenders in the UFC’s heaviest weight class looking to fight him.

One of those contenders is Blaydes, who is the No. 4 ranked heavyweight in the UFC. Blaydes is one of the best fighters in the weight class, and if he’s able to get one more win over another top contender at heavyweight, it seems likely that he will fight for the belt by the end of 2023, and that fight could potentially come against Jones if he beats Gane for the vacant belt at UFC 285.

Speaking to Brendan Schaub on “Food Truck Diaries,” Bladyes was asked about how a fight between him and Jones would go, and “Razor” laid out where he believes he has the edge over the former 205lbs champion.

“Just the difference between 215 or 197 compared to heavyweight, when you’re on the bottom, when he’s underneath me, which I do plan on him being underneath me, he’s gonna use a lot more energy than what he’s used to using. I think that’ll be the biggest factor,” Blaydes said (via MMAjunkie.com). “Size, power, explosiveness. He’s not the most explosive guy. He’s very creative with the striking, but he’s not very explosive. I think he’s more well rounded, but the wrestling, the size, the explosion, and power, I think jab for jab, if we both connect, he’ll go backwards, and I won’t.”

Who do you think would win a heavyweight bout between Curtis Blaydes and Jon Jones?
