First of all, how did you get into MMA? Do you have any background in any other sports?
“I’ve been doing martial arts for over 20 years and my love for the sport developed into MMA.”
Is MMA your full-time job or are you working somewhere else as well? If not, what did you do for work before MMA?
“I’m currently a school teacher and an MMA fighter.”
Who gave you the nickname “SIN”? What is the reasoning behind it?
“I was defending my karate world title and my teammates were cheering for me as Cyn but short for Cynthia and the reporter understood it as “Sin” and he said that like any sin (big or little) it was inevitable that I would get the world title.”
Who are you currently training with? How did you come across the camp? Also, who are some of your main training partners?
“My camp is USAK and Luttrell/Yee MMA. USAK has been my upbringing since I started in Martial Arts so they really have brought me up into the fighter I am today. Some of my training partners include Claudia Gadelha.”
How is the cut to 115? What is your favorite thing to eat before and after weight cut?
“It’s an easy cut to 115lbs. I guess my favorite thing to eat after weight cut is pasta or sushi.”
What has been your favorite memory of your mma career so far?
“I don’t have a specific memory as I love every aspect of it, training and fighting.”
What would be your favorite striking and grappling technique?
“When they fall and when they tap. Lol”
One dream fight, who would you square off with?
“My dream fight would be anyone holding the UFC strawweight title.”
What makes you a different fighter from everyone else?
“My martial arts background is what makes me different than any other fighters.”
Where are some locations you’d like to travel to and fight?
“I was going to go to Japan to fight for RIZIN but I got an eye gouged in my last fight and wasn’t medically cleared to go as I have cuts in my retina.”
Explain what a normal day is like in the life of Cynthia Arceo?
“Train, teach, train, sleep, and repeat.”
Recently Mackenzie Dern came in seven pounds over the strawweight weight limit? How do you personally feel about that? Also, would you still take the fight if your opponent came that much over?
“I think that’s very disrespectful to the fighter, organization, the fans and the sport itself. I have taken 2 fights like that in my career. Once my opponent was 7lbs over and the other was 8.8lbs over.
How many fights are left on your KOTC contract? Are you hoping to make the jump to a bigger promotion? The UFC perhaps?
“I have very few of them left and we have offers. I’ve been contacted for the Contender Series and for RIZIN.”
