A women’s strawweight matchup between Cynthia Calvillo vs. Lauren Murphy is being targeted for UFC 254 on Oct. 24.
According to MMA Fighting, both fighters verbally agreed and are expecting to sign soon
Calvillo is coming a flyweight-debut victory, earning a unanimous decision against Jessica Eye at UFC on ESPN 10 this past June. Her move came after a majority draw to Marina Rodriguez at UFC on ESPN 7 in December 2019.
She previously earned two-straight wins over Cortney Casey and Poliana Botelho.
Murphy is fresh off a unanimous-decision win against Roxanne Modafferiat UFC on ESPN 11 on June 20. It’s a part of a three-fight win streak for the former Invicta FC bantamweight champion, defeating Andrea Lee and Mara Romero Borella.
The event is set to be headlined by a UFC Lightweight Championship unification bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje.
