D.U.S.T’s Commander Dale Brown Signs One Fight Deal With UFC
Commander Dale Brown, leader of the Detroit Urban Survival Training (D.U.S.T) has struck a one fight deal with the UFC. Brown looks to go into the UFC as a heavyweight and plans on taking a top ten contender on in his first match looking to prove the efficacy of his combat training.
Dale Brown has made waves on the internet in the past year with his controversial self-defense methods. Often seen disarming combatants with guns and knives, Brown has drawn much criticism on his teachings. But recently, he coached Joaquin Buckley to a win over Abdul Razak Alhassan to rave reviews from Buckley himself. After the fight Buckley said the following on Brown:
“Shout out to Dale Brown. He’s a cool dude, he gets a lot of negativity about the things that he’s doing but he’s legit in the self defense and security game [for] like 26 years. He was a military paratrooper, he knows what he’s talking about. He’s been in the game for a minute.”
Dale Brown and His UFC Aspirations
For Dale Brown, this is a proving point stepping into the cage. The D.U.S.T maestro is looking to prove his worth. It’s one thing to demonstrate the skills in a controlled environment where Brown is in complete control and nobody is out to hurt him. But to step in the cage is another thing all together and Brown is confident of his skills.
Reportedly, the UFC wouldn’t let Brown step in to face a heavyweight. N’Gannou, Gane, Miocic, Tuivasa and Blaydes were taken off the table because UFC brass believes the top five could be put at a high risk for injury or death with Brown in the cage. That leaves Derrick Lewis the next contender up and with the eyes Lewis brings to the card, expect that to be the fight made.
It’s unclear if Dale Brown will be handicapped with several of his more life-threatening tactics taken away, much like Joshua Fabia and Diego Sanchez from a few years ago. It’s also unclear if Brown will continue his UFC career to chase the title against Francis N’Gannou who would be the ultimate test.
