Damon Jackson talks UFC Vegas 60 win following his brother’s passing
Damon Jackson came into in UFC Vegas 60 fight with a heavy heart.
Just days before the fight, Jackson’s brother passed away and while he was very upset over the loss, Jackson knew his brother would want him to fight so he made the decision to remain on the card.
Across the octagon from Jackson on fight night was tough opponent in Pat Sabatini, who was undefeated in his UFC career.
Jackson was well aware of what Sabatini had done so far in the UFC and with the emotions of his brother on his mind, he knew he had to get the fight over quickly and that’s exactly what he did.
Just seconds into the fight, Jackson landed a straight front that wobbled Sabatini and Jackson pounced on his opponent as soon as he noticed he was hurt.
Moments later, Jackson was mauling Sabatini and landing heavy ground and pound before the referee would eventually jump in and wave the off just a little over a minute into the bout.
As soon as the fight was over, Jackson let his emotions out. He immediately looked out into the crowd and found his family, pointed at them and then he started to ball his eyes out with his coaches and friends that were in his corner.
While the emotions flew out, the UFC decided that Jackson was more than deserving of a performance of the night bonus and he left the UFC Apex in Las Vegas with an extra 50 thousand dollars.
Following the event, Jackson spoke with MyMMANews about his victory, the emotions of his brothers passing and how he’s planning on fighting again in December.
