Dana White: Holly Holm will fight again before Ronda Rousey rematch
UFC President Dana White was on UFC Tonight when he announced that UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm will defend the title she took from Ronda Rousey back in November, once again before rematching the former champ.
“Holly Holm will fight before she fights Ronda,” White said.
“You will see Ronda Rousey fight again,” White said. “Ronda has dedicated the last three-plus years to working hard here. Not just fighting, but promoting and taking the sport and the UFC to a whole other level. Ronda has some well-deserved time off but she will fight this year.”
No opponent for Holm or a date for the fight was announced although it would come as a huge surprise if Miesha Tate is not named as the contender.
Following UFC 193 where Holm won the title from Rousey, White stated that he was definitely targeting a rematch between Holm and Rousey, most likely at UFC 200 in July but it appears those plans have changed.
Holm recently signed a multi-year contract with the UFC so the rematch is inevitable. The question is when.
