Dana White says he and Justin Gaethje need to meet and get on the same page
UFC president, Dana White says he needs to meet with Justin Gaethje and talk things out.
White recently came out and said Conor McGregor would get the next title shot instead of Gaethje as “The Highlight” knows what he did.
What Justin Gaethje did was unknown until he went on Sirius XM and revealed he turned down the UFC Auckland main event against Dan Hooker and the UFC Brasilia main event against Charles Oliveira. So, White didn’t like that but he now hopes to get on the same page with Gaethje.
“There’s been all this, ‘What about Justin Gaethje’ stuff. The reality is, me and Justin Gaethje need to sit down and talk face to face and have a meeting,” White said at this UFC 246 post-fight press conference (via MMA Junkie). “So, we’ll probably do that in the next few weeks and sit down with him. I like Gaethje. Gaethje’s a great kid, and he’s a super talented guy, and he and I need to get on the same page.”
Justin Gaethje is coming off a first-round TKO win over Donald Cerrone back in September at UFC Vancouver. Before that, he knocked out Edson Barboza and knocked out James Vick to get back into the win column. Before that, he lost back-to-back fights by knockout to Dustin Poirier and Eddie Alvarez. In his UFC debut, he knocked out Michael Johnson.
Gaethje is currently ranked third in the lightweight division and is the former WSOF lightweight champion.
Although Gaethje is a top contender at lightweight, Dana White made it clear he wants to see Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov 2. So, who Gaethje will need to fight next is to be seen. He could rematch Dustin Poirier or perhaps battle McGregor or the winner of Paul Felder vs. Dan Hooker.
Regardless, Dana White is looking to get on the same page as Justin Gaethje.
