Dana White says USADA’s Travis Tygart “went full Britney Spears and lost his mind”
On Friday, during a Professional Bull Riding (PBR) media event, UFC CEO Dana White spoke about the recent and continuously unfolding situation with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
In a video captured by The Mac Life, White addressed a statement released by USADA CEO Travis Tygart.
“I summed it up yesterday in one word: scumbag. Listen, it is what it is; they did what they did,” White said. “Think about this: they are in a business where they are looking to bring other sports leagues in. They were with us for eight years. We helped put them on the map; they helped us build an incredible program. This is how you’re going to end your relationship with us? Who else would want to do business with these guys after that? Not me. It doesn’t matter to me; we’re moving on, and good luck to them.”
“Listen, this guy went full Britney Spears and lost his mind. Get ready; you’re probably going to see this guy on Instagram dancing with knives in the next two weeks or something. He went nuts and lost his mind. It is what it is. Whatever,” the UFC frontman concluded.
Earlier in the week Tygart released a statement that said, “We can confirm that Conor McGregor has re-entered the USADA testing pool as of Sunday, October 8, 2023. We have been clear and firm with the UFC that there should be no exception given by the UFC for McGregor to fight until he has returned two negative tests and been in the pool for at least six months. The rules also allow USADA to keep someone in the testing pool longer before competing based on their declarations upon entry in the pool and testing results.
“Unfortunately, we do not currently know whether the UFC will ultimately honor the six-month or longer requirement because, as of January 1, 2024, USADA will no longer be involved with the UFC Anti-Doping Program. Despite a positive and productive meeting about a contract renewal in May 2023, the UFC did an about-face and informed USADA on Monday, October 9, that it was going in a different direction.”
The UFC hen immediately addressed that statement and said they have since partnered with Drug Free Sport International following the USADA split.
