Dana White’s Contender Series Season 6, Week 1 Results
Dana White’s Contender Series is back again for the sixth season of the show.
So far to date, UFC president Dana White has handed out 115 contracts over the course of the shows first five seasons and those fighters have gone on to produce 250 wins. As of right now two of the series alums have competed for UFC titles (Alex Perez and Taila Santos) and 17 fighters are current ranked in the UFC’s top 15 for their weight class.
In tonight’s featured bout, Ozzy Diaz and Joe Pyfer will square off in a middleweight matchup.
Diaz comes into the fight as the reigning LFA middleweight champion and is 7-1 as pro. He enters the fight on a five-fight winning streak.
Pyfer will come into tonight’s main event with experience of the show as he previously appeared in the shows fourth season, but suffered a submission loss to Dustin Stoltzfus. After the loss, he return back to fighting in December, where he picked up a second-round stoppage over Austin Trotman in CFFC.
Aside from the main event, the rest of the card will feature Anton Turkalj vs. Scacio Santos, Dennis Buzukja vs. Kaleio Romero and Alessandro Costa vs. Juan Andres Luna.
Originally, the card was supposed to featured Willian Souza and Faird Basharat in the co-main event, but the fight was scrapped when Souza missed the bantamweight limit by 10 pounds.
Tonight’s fight card will take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and it can by streamed on ESPN+ starting at 8pm ET.
