Dana White’s Contender Series: Season 6, Week 9 Results
Dana White’s Contender Series is just about to wrap up the shows sixth season as tonight marks the second to last episode.
Next week the show will have a lot of eyes on it as Bo Nickal returns to the show after earning a quick win earlier in the season and not receiving a UFC contract.
Before Nickal comes back to the show, its another pair of talented middleweights who are taking the spotlight in the featured bout of the eventing.
Leon Aliu and Bruno Ferreira are set to clash in that fight and both fighters bring plenty of experience to the octagon.
Aliu is 33-years-old and has been a pro for six years. So far in his career he holds notable wins over DWCS alum Leonardo Damiani and UFC vet Amilcar Alves to go along with and a win over James Webb at Cage Warriors 138 in May.
Ferreira began his professional career in 2019 and the 29-year-old has tallied off eight straight wins. The Brazilian is known for his finishes as he has only seen a second round in a fight once.
The co-main event of the night will take place in the bantamweight division when Raul Rosas Jr. takes on Mando Gutierrez.
Rosas Jr. has had plenty of media attention prior to the fight as he is just 17-years-old and if he is to earn a contract tonight, he’ll be the youngest fighter on the UFC roster. He won two amateur fights to start his career and then turned pro last November. Since turning pro, he has quickly collected five consecutive stoppage wins to land this opportunity.
Gutierrez is 7-1 as a pro and is currently riding a three fight winning streak. His lone loss in his career came against the talented Mo Miller, who previously fought on the show and won, but wasn’t selected for a contract.
Tonight’s fight card will be held from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and can be streamed on ESPN+ beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
