Dana White’s Contenders Series will have their second episode of the seventh season tonight from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Last week, on the show’s season debut, all five winners were awarded a contract as the opening episode provided finishes and upsets to produce a great start to the season.
Now this week, there will be five more fights and all the winners will hope to receive a UFC contract.
In the featured bout of the evening, a highly anticipated lightweight fight between Kerim Al-Selwady and George Hardwick will take place.
Al-Selwady, who trains out of Fortis MMA, is the reigning Fury FC lightweight champion as he defeated Michael Murphy to win the title. That win gives him a four-fight winning streak and increases his record to 14-3.
Meanwhile, Hardwick has been dominate on the European scene as he’s the reigning Cage Warriors lightweight champ. When Hardwick enters the octagon tonight, he’ll be on an eight-fight winning streak, all but one of which has come by way of finish.
In the co-main event, former heavyweights Paulo Renato Junior and Ibo Aslan will drop down to the light heavyweight division.
Renato Junior dropped a decision to Jamal Pogues last season on the Contender Series, but he rebounded nicely from that defeat by posting consecutive first-round stoppage wins to advance his record to 12-2.
Aslan has been impressive so far in his career as he’s 11-1 overall and his lone loss came against former DWCS competitor and current UFC light heavyweight Anton Turkalj.
Tonight’s fights can be streamed on ESPN+ starting at 7 p.m. ET and the show will also be available to rewatch on ESPN+ following the conclusion of the event.
