Daniel Madrid ‘ready to go to battle’ with Chris Harris in LFA 72 headliner
Daniel Madrid discusses his upcoming middleweight main event fight with Chris Harris at LFA 72 on Friday night. The event will take place at the Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona and will air exclusively on AXS TV.
“DemiGod” discusses his excitement for his first LFA headliner, how losing to Ian Heinisch at LFA 31 last year was the best thing that could’ve happened to him, the secret to his recent success, the aspects of his game he needed to change following the loss to Heinisch and how he fixed them, his knowledge of Chris Harris as an opponent and when he became aware of him, how he sees the fight playing out and much more.
Many believe that with an impressive victory on Friday night, Madrid could be in line for a possible call up to the UFC. Despite the amount of fighters who have found their way to the Octagon from the LFA organization, Madrid isn’t looking that far ahead. It’s all about Friday night and getting a win over Chris Harris.
“It’s all about the task at hand,” Madrid said to MyMMANews.com when it comes to the UFC. “It doesn’t even cross my mind at all. I’ll let my coaches and I’ll let my wife worry about that. Right now, my job is fight Chris Harris, come out with my hand raised. That’s all that is expected of me.
“I do my best to try not to think about it but I’d like to think that I’m, somewhat, close. But, again, I’m not focused on it. I would absolutely love it if I could get there after this fight, but right now, LFA is my home. Chris Harris is my opponent. That’s what I’m focused on.”
