Daniel Rodriguez edges Li Jingliang on the cards in stand up affair at UFC 279

Daniel Rodriguez vs. Neil Magny added to upcoming UFC Fight Night card

A welterweight bout between Daniel Rodriguez and Neil Magny has been added to an upcoming UFC Fight Night card.

MMA Island was the first to report that Rodriguez vs. Magny has been booked for UFC Vegas 62, which takes place on October 15 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event of the evening is a five-round women’s flyweight bout between Viviane Araujo and Alexa Grasso. Based on the fact Magny and Rodriguez are both ranked in the top-15 at 170lbs, this fight seems likely to be placed on the main card of this event.

Rodriguez (17-2) is the No. 14 ranked welterweight in the UFC. The 35-year-old American joined the UFC in 2020 and since then he has achieved a fantastic record in the Octagon at 7-1 overall. In his last outing, Rodriguez defeated Li Jingliang by split decision at UFC 279 to increase his win streak to four straight fights. His only loss in the UFC came by decision to Nicolas Dalby in a fight that many felt he won. Otherwise, Rodriguez has been perfect in the Octagon, although his victory over Jingliang was a highly-debated one.

Magny (26-9) is the No. 13 ranked welterweight in the UFC. The 35-year-old American has been a staple of the UFC welterweight division since 2013, going 19-8 overall in the Octagon while fighting many of the best fighters in the division along the way. Some of Magny’s most notable victories include Kelvin Gastelum, Robbie Lawler, Geoff Neal, Carlos Condit, and the aforementioned Jingliang. He has fought the best of the best for years, and although Magny has never become a champion, he has shown that he’s without a doubt one of the best welterweights on the UFC roster, and someone who it is especially very difficult to win a decision over.

Who do you think wins this welterweight bout between Daniel Rodriguez and Neil Magny?
