Darren Till explains why he asked for his release from the UFC
Darren Till is no longer a UFC fighter.
On Tuesday night, it was revealed by the Twitter account, UFC Roster Watch that Till was removed from the roster, which surprised many. The Brit is a big name and a popular fighter, and early Wednesday morning, Till took to Twitter to confirm the news and revealed he asked for his release which the UFC granted.
What’s happening everyone,
Me, Dana & Hunter are still cool as fuck.
I asked UFC 2 remove me just 2 sort some other shit for the foreseeable,
They happily agreed to release me out of contract which I appreciate.
I’m not going anywhere, got big plans to execute & I’ll be back. 🦍— DT (@darrentill2) March 1, 2023

The news is surprising but Till has struggled as of late while also dealing with some injuries. Perhaps, he takes a few fights in the UK to get back on track and then re-sign with the UFC once he deals with some things.
Darren Till (18-5-1) ended his UFC career on a three-fight losing skid as he suffered a submission loss to Dricud du Plessis at UFC 282 in December. After the loss, he was overheard saying he thought he tore his ACL again but did confirm he wouldn’t be retiring after the loss.
“You don’t always get what you want in this life. It’s tough. I’m f*****g 29 now. I’ve been at the top of the sport since 2017, entered in the UFC in 2015. I’m not retired, this is not a retirement speech. I’m 29, that would be stupid to decide,” Till had said after his defeat. “I’m on a bit of a losing skid at the moment, I really am. I ain’t finding my right way at the moment, and it’s crazy because when I’m in the gym sparring with the best guys in the world, I really am in [my] element, and then I step in the octagon and I just can seem to put things together. Then I have moments — like the second round — when I’m untouchable, and then certain things happen.”
Till went 6-5-1 in the UFC including fighting for the welterweight title at UFC 228 losing by submission to Tyron Woodley.
