David Feldman on Luke Rockhold – “His teeth got messed up pretty good”

Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold made his professional bare knuckle fighting debut on Saturday night in the BKFC 41 main event opposite fellow former UFC star, Mike ‘Platinum’ Perry.

While the fight did not go in favor of the 38-year-old Rockhold, the event was a major success for the promotion.  Arguably BKFC’s biggest event to date, it drew combat sports personalities from the UFC and elsewhere into the sold-out arena in Broomfield, Colorado.  Stars such as Conor McGregor, Kamaru Usman, and Justin Gaethje all sat ringside to get a firsthand glimpse of the sport.

In the second-round, referee Dan Miragliotta called a stopped to the action as Rockhold signaled that something was wrong with his mouth. It wasn’t until after the fight that details, still vague, were revealed.

“Luke Rockhold, some of his teeth got cracked,” BKFC President David Feldman explained at the post-fight press conference. “So that’s why he wasn’t able to continue.

“His teeth got messed up pretty good. What a great start to that fight. Great fight.”

The extent of the damage that Luke Rockhold endured is still unknown, and a trip to the dentist is likely in order.
