Davion Franklin is a Jackson Wink MMA product and he has a pair of highlight-reel, first-round finishes bookending his three straight professional wins under the Bellator banner. The top ten ranked Franklin spoke with me at media day ahead of his pursuit of going 4-0 as a pro-MMA fighter.
I got insights from the surging competitor about who his stiffest test in mixed martial arts truly is. Also, I asked Franklin what informs the iron-clad nature of his mental game and the machinations of a champion mindset.

Through the scrum here, you’re talking about how the opponents are largely inconsequential.
How much do you focus on the individual refinement and do you think it’s a fair characterization to say that you yourself are ultimately your toughest opponent?
“Absolutely. I don’t focus on what my opponent is going to do. What my opponent can do. I focus on what I’m going to do and what I can do. I’m prepared for me showing out and me stealing the show.”
Is that a champion mindset that you’ve always had throughout your competitive endeavors or has it been further refined just with the high-level people you’ve trained with?
“This is my mentality. It’s my mentality, my path. This is my calling. This is my mentality. It has nothing to do with who’s around me. This is what I want to do. I want to be dominant. I’m going to be dominant Friday.”
