Deiveson Figueiredo quickly submits Alex Perez in UFC 255 main event
Deiveson Figueiredo and Alex Perez were the last two men to make the walk to the octagon at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas as they headlined UFC 255.
Figueiredo (19-1) entered the fight as the champion getting ready to make his first title defense. He brought a four-fight winning streak into the fight, which includes his July victory over Joseph Benavidez where Figueiredo secured the vacant flyweight title. His lone career loss came in early 2019 when he came up on the losing end of decision to Jussier Formiga.
Perez (24-5) got the title opportunity after Cody Garbrandt dropped out of the fight. He brings a three-fight winning streak into the fight and his last outing came in June at UFC 250 where he defeated Formiga by TKO due to leg kicks. Benavidez is the only fighter in the UFC to pick a victory over Perez.

Round 1
Feeling out process to start things out. Figueiredo lands the first strike with a kick the body around 30 seconds into the fight.

Perez gets a single leg and tries to get a takedown. Eventually he gets it and Figueiredo is able to get ahold of Perez’s neck.
Once Figueiredo got ahold of the choke he didn’t let go. Perez tried to escape, but he couldn’t get away and he taps out.
