Drew Dober fights Matt Frevola at UFC 288
An exciting lightweight bout between top-15 ranked fighter Drew Dober and Matt Frevola has been added to the upcoming UFC 288 pay-per-view card.
Frevola broke the news himself on his social media, sharing a custom poster of the matchup against Dober. It’s set to take place on May 6 at UFC 288 at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The event is headlined by UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling defending his belt against the former champion Henry Cejudo.
Dober is ranked at No. 14 right now in the UFC lightweight division, and he’s been a stalwart in the weight class for the last decade. At age 34, Dober has really come into his own as he’s riding a three-fight win streak at the moment, with knockout wins over Bobby Green, Rafael Alves, and Terrance McKinney. He is one of the most powerful strikers in the UFC lightweight division and he’ll be looking to KO Frevola.
Frevola, on the other hand, has been on a roll as of late himself, having won his last two fights against Ottman Azaitar and Genaro Valdez via TKO. He has been fairly inconsistent during his UFC career but he has really looked a lot better as of late and is coming into his own as a fighter in the lightweight division. Frevola has been calling out Paddy Pimblett for months, but instead of landing a fight with Pimblett, he gets the chance to break into the top-15 rankings instead when he takes on Frevola here.
Overall, it should be a very exciting fight between two lightweights who love to stand and trade. Based on his body of work in the UFC, look for Dober to be the betting favorite for this fight, so Frevola will be looking to pick up a big upset win.
