Dricus Du Plessis discusses his upcoming UFC 285 fight with Derek Brunson
Dricus Du Plessis has been slowly climbing his way towards the top and on Saturday at UFC 285, he’ll take on his biggest challenge to date when he takes on Derek Brunson.
Ever since Plessis arrived in the UFC, he has been impressive as he has posted a 4-0 record within the promotion.
After his first three performances, he finally got a bigger named opponent in his last fight when the UFC booked him against former UFC title challenger and fan favorite Darren Till.
Plessis made the best of his spotlight against Till as he submitted him in the third round of their UFC 282 matchup in which the two fighters both took home an extra 50 thousand dollars as a result of their performance that earned Fight of the Night honors.
That big win got Plessis in the top 10 in the official UFC middleweight rankings and with an impressive start to his career, the UFC has now given him a chance to crack the top five at UFC 285.
The Plessis and Brunson is set to serve as the headliner of the preliminary card for UFC 285 and the fight has definitely caught the eyes of fans.
Brunson is a UFC veteran and has shared the octagon with a number of champions throughout the course of his career.
Plessis knows Brunson has experienced it all in the UFC, but he is still confident that he is just the better fighter and he plans on leaving Las Vegas to head back to South Africa with a win and his name edged Brunson’s spot at No. 5 in the middleweight rankings.
Prior to the fight, Plessis spoke with MyMMANews to discuss his matchup with Brunson, his hopes of making it into the top five with a win and he looked ahead at future match including his thoughts on the Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya rematch set for UFC 287 in April.
