Dusko Todorovic dominates, earns first UFC win concluding with a TKO finish
The second stint of “Fight Island” continues with UFC on ESPN 16 tonight, Saturday, Oct. 3. Headlining the event is a women’s bantamweight affair between former champion Holly Holm and Irene Aldana in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The co-main event features heavyweights Yorgan De Castro and Carlos Felipe.
The main card opener for UFC Fight Night: Holm vs Aldana see a bout in the middleweight division. Dequan Townsend has drawn Dusko Todorovic, and the fight is expected to see the challengers leave it on the line. And go toe to toe.
Townsend (18-10 MMA, 0-3 UFC) has been largely unsuccessful in his career to date. Bouncing between middleweight and light heavyweight, Townsend is still in search of his first UFC victory.
As for Todorovic (9-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC), the Dana White’s Contender Series Season 3 winner has had his debut fight set and then cancelled three times. All but one of Todorovic’s professional fights have ended with him winning inside the judges score cards.
ROUND 1:
They touch gloves in the middle of the octagon. Todorovic opens up with a big left hook and backs up Townsend. Dusko has Dequan pushed up against the cage and then proceeds to land a big knee. Dusko starting to work on Townsend body. They break up from the clinch. Two minutes gone on the clock. Dusko rushes in and eats a flurry from Townsend. A solid chin shown from Dusko. He returns with a right hand himself, then pushes Dequan up against the cage and lands a elbow. Dusko showing speed with his punches and catching Dequan off guard with the speed of his strikes. Dusko has Townsend in trouble back up against the cage, Townsend eats the flurry of punches and returns. Both men showing a great chin. Round 1 ends with Dusko getting the best of Townsend.

ROUND 2:
Round two starts. Both men start off by throwing heavy leather. Both men attempt a spinning wheel kick, which both men were equal two and block it. A level change from Dusko, and he secures the double leg. Todorovic came out aggressive in the second. Dusko transitioned to mount. Now back to side control after a scramble from Townsend. Dusko is now in full mount. Bad news for Dequan. Dusko attempts a arm triangle and gives it up. A scramble leads Dusko to take Townsend back. Lands heavy shots to the head from the back, and forces townsend to move and Dusko lands in full mount. He pours on the pressure with some heavy shots from the top. The referee is taking a close look, Townsend needs to move. Dusko landing some fight ending bombs. The referee steps in to wave off the contest and Dusko gets the TKO win and improves to 10-0 in MMA. A impressive showing from Dusko Todorovic, pressure from the off, heavy ground and pound and gives out punishment to Dequan Townsend.
