Dana White’s Contender Series 21 results: 3 finishes, 3 contracts awarded
On Tuesday night, Dana White’s Contender Series returned with another jam packed fight card featuring 10 fighters looking to make their professional dreams a reality.

Over the last two weeks, an incredible nine UFC contracts have been awarded by Dana White. In the main event, Jordan Williams got his second chance to earn a contract as he took on Ramazan Kuramagomedov in a middleweight showdown. The fight was absolutely incredible. A back and forth battle for the entire 15 minutes lead to a split decision that was given to Kuramagomedov.
In the end, UFC president Dana White awarded contracts to Billy Quarantillo, Jamahal Hill and Sean Woodson, who all picked up finishes on the night.

Billy Quarantillo vs. Kamuela Kirk
ROUND 1
If Billy Quarantillo looks familiar, you may remember him from when he competed on TUF 22 in 2015. Herb Dean gets them ready and they touch gloves. Quarantillo comes up swinging hands and feet. After landing a body kick, Kirk times a shot perfectly and takes the fight to the ground. Kirk gets in full mount and transitions to the back of Quarantillo, who is able to avoid the submission. Kirk moves to side control, back to mount and takes the back of Quarantillo once again. Kirk lands a pair of punches before Quarantillo stands up. Kirk is able to force the fight back down to the mat and remains on the back with other hooks in. Kirk trying for a rear naked choke but Quarantillo is doing a really nice job defending. Quarantillo sweeps Kirk over and is on top, landing punches. The fight is back to the feet and Quarantillo pushes Kirk up against the fence, looking for his own takedown. Kirk eats a body kick and he lands the takedown. Nasty elbows from Kirk but Quarantillo proving to be very tough to put away. Under 10 seconds and Kirk lands more punches from top position as the round ends.

ROUND 2
Kirk lands a jumping knee to the body early. Quarantillo swings with a looping left hand, landing flush. Kirk counters and looks for a takedown, which is denied. Body shot lands from Quarantillo, knee lands from Kirk. Quarantillo walking Kirk down a bit, landing combinations. Kirk lands a pair of kicks to the body and Quarantillo counters with a right hand. Overhand right from Qurantillo as Kirk looks for another takedown, stopped by Quarantillo who continues to move forward and throw volume. Kirk has slowed down quite a bit as Quarantillo is looking to capitalize. Knee to the body from Quarantillo, followed by some. stiff body punches. Big left hand stings Kirk and Quarantillo is all over him. Thai clinch locked in with from big knees from Quarantillo. Kirk trying to hang on as he eats another big combination from Quarantillo. Kirk lands an uppercut, but Quarantillo is just all up in his face, landing several shots. Under 20 seconds to go and Quarantillo is teeing off on Kirk, who stumbles back a bit before the horn sounds. Talk about a momentum shift.

ROUND 3
Quarantillo wastes little time getting all over Kirk, swarming him with punches, knees and kicks before Herb Dean mercifully stops it. Great turnaround for Quarantillo after a tough first round.

Jamahal Hill vs. Alexander Poppeck
ROUND 1
They meet in the middle and were off. Side kick to the upper thigh lands from Poppeck. They trade leg kicks as a part of the feeling out process. That process ends quickly as both guys throw big punches. Hill lands a hard kick; unfortunately, it was a quite low and the referee stops the action. The fight resumes and Poppeck lands a pushing side kick to the shin. They trade heavy kicks. Hill lands a hard left hand that definitely caught Poppeck’s attention. Poppeck shoots for a single leg and they battle against the fence. They separate and Hill lands a high kick that’s partially blocked by the forearm of Poppeck. Left hand from Poppeck and a nice knee to the body return from Hill. Under two minutes left in the round and Poppeck throws an easy leg kick, which Hill answers with a big left hand that just misses the mark. Poppeck lands a body kick, Hill shakes his head at his opponent, and lands a body kick of his own. With a little under 40 seconds to go, Hill lands an accidental eye poke. Action stops briefly and Poppeck, again, comes out throwing power punches. Hill is throwing a lot of volume in the final 10 seconds as the horn sounds.

ROUND 2
Poppeck misses a head kick and Hill makes him pay with a big two punch, and a high kick combination. Hill is finding some openings more frequently with his striking as Poppeck shoots for a takedown. They clinch against the cage with Hill in the driver’s seat. Hill landing punches to the body. Poppeck says another low blow occurred, but the referee didn’t see a need to stop the action. Hill continues to push forward and land. Knee to the body and a left hook land from Hill. Poppeck has to be a little frustrated at this point. Front kick to the body lands from Hill. Jumping knee to the body from Hill, who is opening up. Knees to the body land, a left hand, body kick, another left hand from Hill and Poppeck shoots and lands a takedown for the first time in the fight. It is short lived as Hill is right back up. Thai clinch locked in and Hill lands a pair of big knees to the face. Poppeck is hurt as Hill tries to keep the pressure on. Poppeck is on the mat and Hill starts dropping elbows. The referee has seen enough. Great performance from Hill!

Christian Lohsen vs. JJ Okanovich
ROUND 1
They meet in the center of the cage and Lohsen is the early aggressor. Okanovich lands a nice right hand and tired to turn the tables. They tie up against the cage and Lohsen lands a knee to the body. Lohsen attempts a trip, Okanovich is able to stay on his feet momentarily before Lohsen gets it to the mat prettifying easily. Lohsen in half guard trying to improve his position locks in a choke, now is in full mount. Okanovich is able to avoid the submission, but Lohsen transitions into a triangle. Okanovich lands a hammer fist. Lohsen keeps the triangle locked and has Okanovichon his back. Now looking for an armor an Okanovich, somehow, is able to get on top and start landing punches. Incredible grit! Okanovich is happy to sit in Lohsen’s guard and throw big punches and elbows as the round ends.

ROUND 2
Okanovich looks to have taken the momentum as the round begins and comes out strong and aggressive. Lohsen misses a left and eats a combination from Okanovich. Jab lands by Okanovich. Lohsen misses with a left hand and Okanovich lands a right. Lohsen tries to get it to the ground, Okanovich gets on top but elects to stand back up since he has had the advantage on the feet. Right hand from Okanovich, left jab behind it. Lohsen looks gassed as he shoots for a takedown. Okanovich continues to be quicker to the punch. Final minute of the round and Okanovich lands a stinging jab. Okanovich sprawls on a Lohsen takedown and tries to take the back. Lohsen defends the positional shift and is getting elbowed to he midsection for his troubles. Lohsen sweeps as the round ends.

ROUND 3
Okanovich continues to land the bigger shots in the third and final round. Lohsen lands a jab and misses a spinning back fist. Left jab lands again from Okanovich, followed by another. Lohsen lands a jab, but Okanovich lands another big right hand. Lohsen is trying to make something happen with a smile on his face, but Okanovich is landing whenever he wants with punches, and a hard leg kick. Another hard jab from Okanovich as Lohsen looks to shoot. Okanovich sprawls and gets back to his feet with under a minute to go. They each trade big right hands. Okanovich lands another hard combination. Lohsen needs something magical here or he will lose this decision. They trade big punches in a flurry at the end as the horn sounds.

Terrance McKinney vs. Sean Woodson
ROUND 1
McKinney lands a body kick right away. Woodson lands a stiff jab which got McKinney thinking a little bit. McKinney shoots and has Woodson up against the fence. Double undercooks from McKinney who pulls back and lands a stiff elbow. Woodson lands a beautiful jab. McKinney takes Woodson down with a nice throw and takes the back. McKinney looking for a rear naked choke. Woodson defending for the time being. Halfway through the round and McKinney looks to lock it in again, body triangle in tact. Woodson is able to slide out of it and stay in the fight. McKinney still has the body triangle locked in and Woodson is just stuck in this position. He’s trying to punch his way out of it, but McKinney isn’t going to break those legs apart. Under a minute to go and Woodson is breathing heavy, but still fighting and defending. The position remains for the remainder of the round.

McKinney shoots right away but Woodson sprawls and is able to get back to his feet. Hard jab landed by Woodson. McKinney shoots, Woodson sprawls, but McKinney is able to take the back once again. The body triangle is locked in once again. Almost four minutes for McKinney to work here as he throws a couple of right hands. McKinney tries to work for the choke again. Woodson sweeps and gets back to his feet. Woodson lands a ferocious jumping knee to the head of McKinney and it’s over just like that. WOW! Big win for Woodson on five days notice.

ROUND 1
Kuramagomedov is the biggest favorite on the card. Herb Dean gets the fighters underway. Williams lands a right hand early and follows up with an uppercut. They lock up in the center briefly and separate. Jab from Williams lands and answered by Kuramagomedov. Body kick lands by Kuramagomedov and Williams walks right through it. A pair of jabs land from Williams, followed by a big left hand. Leg kick from Williams and Kuramagomedov lands nice left cross. High kick lands by the Russian and Williams lands a left hand. Kuramagomedov is stunned. Williams gets on top for a moment but Kuramagomedov is back to his feet. Big left hand by Williams lands. Jab lands from Kuramagomedov, answered by a right from Williams. High kick from Kuramagomedov lands. Under a minute to go and Kuramagomedov lands another nice jab. They tie up in the center and separate quickly. They touch gloves and Williams lands a leg kick. Williams lands a combination, followed up by a nice left hand. Kuramagomedov ducks under to land a punch, but Williams answers. A clinch battle in the center leads to a knee from Kuramagomedov. Williams lands a right hand, but Kuramagomedov lands a nice jab and right cross. They battle against the fence and Kuramagomedov lands a nice elbow on the break. Left hand from Kuramagomedov lands as we approach the halfway point of the round.
