DWCS vet Alton Cunningham on coming out of retirement to fight Jan. 29: “I wasn’t doing (MMA) the right way”

Alton Cunningham (7-2) discusses his light heavyweight fight against Brian Imes (8-11) at Chosen Few 20 on Jan. 29. Alton also spoke about working with a new team, a potential drop back to middleweight in the future and what ultimately brought him out of retirement.

“When I first got out of the sport, I felt like I wasn’t doing it the right way. There was just a lot of things going on in my life and I wasn’t acting like a professional. I was able to get my own stuff together, get into coaching. I never lost the passion, I just felt like the time was right to come back.” 

The fight card takes place at Monona Terrace in Madison, Wisconsin.
