Dylan Beever, active duty Marine, set for his second battle at AOW 25 after successful debut
Video interview with Dylan Beever above
Art of War Cage Fighting will be hosting their 25th event on July 16th at the beautiful Newtown Athletic Club. AOW 25 features surging heavyweight Patrick “the Brick” Brady welcoming Cam “The Big Mac” Graham to the cage in the main event. Brady’s teammate at Martinez BJJ, Matt “White Chocolate” Turnbull faces the explosive Chaka Worthy in the co-main event.
The pro/am fight card is stacked with a bunch of interesting matchups and MyMMANews will be right in the middle of it. My early choice for fight of the night is a bantamweight showdown between Eric Beitz and Dylan Beever. Beitz trains out of MPR Endurance MMA and has gone 2-0 in his career thus far. In his last bout, he showed a ton of heart as he was rocked with a big right hand from Benjamin Sullivan in the first 15 seconds of the first round. Calling the action from cageside, I thought the fight was over, but Beitz showed amazing resilience and recovery skills. He toughed it out through that first round and then went on to dominate rounds 2 and 3 to take home a convincing victory.
Dylan Beever also fought on this card at AOW 24 making his debut. Beever was impressive with a second-round finish via guillotine choke. Beever recently was promoted to sergeant as he is an active member of the US Marine Corps just hitting his fourth-year anniversary there. We caught up with Dylan to see how he was feeling about his second ever fight camp and how the support has been at home and on the base. He tells us…
“They love it. They are all for it. I mean from the highest level our squadron XO he loves watching the fights. My OIC was at my last fight. On the enlisted side if they’re not flying or working, they are there to support and they all love it. We got posters up in the building and everybody is excited to watch it. It’s been really nice getting all the support.”
Please check out our interview on the link above. Beever has really developed a great relationship with his head coach, Jeff Cressman and they train out of Power Half Wrestling and Mixed Martial Arts, which is located just about across the street from Joint Base McGuire-Dix Lakehurst. Beever also chats about getting several of his fellow military brothers to come and train with him.
This is a match-up that I both love and hate. Two quality young men, who train hard, live clean, and are chasing their dreams. I think that both of these combatants have futures as professional fighters and wouldn’t be surprised to see them meet again later in their careers when they get to the next level.
I will be cageside on commentary and post-fight interviews with The Big Homie, Justin Haskell. Eric Kowal will be cageside with live results and William McKee as usual, will be capturing all of the good stuff from behind the lens. If you can’t make it out to Newtown, PA, you can order the PPV stream via the Starfund App.
