UFC Vegas 35 weigh-in results - Barboza vs. Chikadze

Edson Barboza suffers injury, forced out of UFC Vegas 63 fight against Ilia Topuria

Edson Barboza will no longer compete in October.

Barboza was supposed to face Ilia Topuria in a crucial fight for the featherweight division, and the scrap was set to serve as the co-main event of UFC Vegas 63. However, it was reported late Tuesday night by MMAFighting that Barboza suffered a knee injury and is forced out of the fight. MyMMANews has since confirmed the report and confirms that Topuria wants to remain on the card and is seeking a replacement.

Edson Barboza (22-11) is on a two-fight losing skid and coming off a decision loss to Bryce Mitchell back at UFC 272 in March and before that, suffered a TKO loss to Giga Chikadze in a Fight Night main event. The Brazilian is just 3-7 in his last 10 but has only competed against the best as his other five losses have come to Khabib Nurmagomedov, Kevin Lee, Justin Gaethje, Paul Felder, and Dan Ige in his featherweight debut.

Barboza is currently 2-3 at featherweight as he holds a decision win over Makwan Amirkhani and a KO win over Shane Burgos and is currently ranked 13th.

Ilia Topuria (12-0) fought at lightweight last time out and scored a comeback KO win over Jai Herbert while before that, he knocked out Ryan Hall at UFC 264. The Georgian is ranked 14th at featherweight and is 4-0 in the UFC with his other two wins coming by KO over Damon Jackson and in his debut, he scored a decision win over Youssef Zalal.

With Barboza injured, the UFC Vegas 63 card is as now as follows:
