Elise Pone, 3x Amateur Muay Thai Champion Signs with Invicta Fighting Championships
Central PA Mixed Martial Arts and Management has announced that Elise Pone has been signed a multi-fight professional mixed martial arts deal with Invicta Fighting Championships; the world’s largest, all-women’s mixed martial arts organization for her pro MMA debut. Pone’s first fight with the promotion is expected in 2021.
Invicta has paved the way for Women’s MMA and had a number of current UFC fighters and champions such as Amanda Nunes, Chris Cyborg and Michelle Waterson fight in their organization.
Pone will go down in history as State College, PA’s first Professional Women’s MMA Fighter. Outside of Mixed Martial Arts, Pone has amassed a Muay Thai record of 9-1, avenging her only loss and earning 3 championship belts along the way at the Muay Thai World Expo and Tournament of Champions in Des Moines, Iowa. Pone is also a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has won a number of Jiu-Jitsu tournaments and matches.
“I have world class training and coaching available to me on a daily basis,” said Pone. “I am excited to put all my tools together and display them in the Invicta cage.”
Pone’s coach; Ryan Gruhn believes that with Pone’s striking background, experience on the ground and ability to train with some of the best wrestlers in the world, that she will be a force to be reckoned with in Mixed Martial Arts. “She is known as a striker,” Gruhn said, “but has a very diverse ground game and we have Penn State wrestlers who train at CPAMMA year round. She gets to train with BJJ Black Belts, Muay Thai Champions and Collegiate Wrestlers all the time,” said Gruhn.
