Errol Spence Jr. offers Jermell Charlo his pound-for-pound ranking

Decorated boxing sensation Errol Spence Jr. took to Twitter yesterday in a plea to get unified super welterweight champion, Jermell Charlo, a spot on the pound-for-pound rankings.

Spence Jr. posted a tweet that stated, “can we get @TwinCharlo [Jermell Charlo] on the pfp ranking” and even offered to give up his spot saying “idgaf replace him with me.”

He’s got a point, too. On most rankings, Charlo isn’t in the top 10. Despite holding the WBC belt for the last three years, the WBA, IBF, and Ring belts the last two, and becoming the first-ever undisputed super welterweight champion just last weekend, he is nowhere to be found.

Here are a few pound-for-pound rankings:

CBS Boxing:

  1. Canelo Alvarez – unified super middleweight champion
  2. Errol Spence Jr. – unified welterweight champion
  3. Terence Crawford – WBO welterweight champion
  4. Naoya Inoue – unified bantamweight champion
  5. Tyson Fury – WBC heavyweight champion
  6. Vasiliy Lomachenko – lightweight
  7. Shakur Stevenson -WBO junior lightweight champion
  8. Oleksandr Usyk – unified heavyweight champion
  9. Dmitry Bivol – WBA light heavyweight champion
  10. Gervonta Davis – secondary lightweight champion

Ring:

  1. Oleksandr Usyk – unified heavyweight champion
  2. Terence Crawford – WBO welterweight champion
  3. Naoya Inoue – unified bantamweight champion
  4. Errol Spence Jr. – unified welterweight champion
  5. Juan Francisco Estrada – super flyweight champion
  6. Canelo Alvarez – unified super middleweight champion
  7. Vasiliy Lomachenko – lightweight
  8. Dmitry Bivol – WBA light heavyweight champion
  9. Josh Taylor – unified super lightweight champion
  10. Roman Gonzalez – super flyweight

Boxing Scene:

  1. Canelo Alvarez – unified super middleweight champion
  2. Terence Crawford – WBO welterweight champion
  3. Naoya Inoue – unified bantamweight champion
  4. Oleksandr Usyk – unified heavyweight champion
  5. Errol Spence Jr. – unified welterweight champion
  6. Josh Taylor – unified super lightweight champion
  7. Tyson Fury – WBC heavyweight champion
  8. Vasiliy Lomachenko – lightweight
  9. Juan Francisco Estrada – super flyweight champion
  10. Gervonta Davis – secondary lightweight champion

ESPN and Sports Illustrated are also among those who do not have Charlo in their top-ten pound-for-pound.

As the best super welterweight in the world, you would think that it is about time to start putting some respect on Charlos name and put him into the rankings as one of the best pound-for-pound athletes in the sport.

He absolutely deserves to be in these rankings and it is well past the point of putting him in there.

I know I have Charlo in my top 10, but where do you have him ranked in your pound-for-pound rankings?
