Errol Spence returning to face Danny Garcia this fall
Errol Spence Jr. will be making his return to the ring this fall and he’ll be taking on a tough challenger in Danny Garcia. The news was first reported by The Athletic and then followed up by ESPN.
This will be Spence’s first fight since being in a horrible car accident in which he suffered serious injuries, including facial lacerations and a broken jaw.
Before the accident, there were talks of Spence and Garcia fighter in January 2020. Now the two will finally meet. The fight is expected to take place in November at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angles, but Premier Boxing Champions has put holds on other venues.
Spence (26-0, 21 KOs) defend his IBF welterweight and won the WBC title with his split decision victory over Shawn Porter on Sept. 28. His car accident occurred a few weeks after his win over Porter.
Garcia (36-2, 21 KOs) is a former unified champion at junior welterweight and is a world titles at welterweight. He is currently on a two-fight winning streak with wins over Adrian Granados and Ivan Redkach. His two losses came to Keith Thurman by split decision and Porter by very narrow unanimous decision.
The upcoming Spence vs. Garcia fight will be a pay-per-view event. Right now the final stages of negotiations are taking place.
