ESPN Africa Boxing 20 Set To Be An All-Women’s Card

The ESPN Africa Boxing series has been putting on exciting and intriguing events since the year started and, for the month of August, they are doing something a little different.

In South Africa, August is Women’s Month, with Women’s Day falling on August 9th. In honour of the month celebrating women, ESPN Africa will be putting on a women’s only card. The card will put on display the best female talent that the African continent has to offer as they all look to make the most of the given opportunity and make a name for themselves on the biggest boxing stage in Africa.

The card has six confirmed fights and, the main and co-main events of the evening will witness two first title defences. In the penultimate fight, Malawi’s Ellen Simwaka defends her IBF Africa Bantamweight Championship for the first time against fast-rising contender Lanah Kasweka. The main event to close out the night will also witness Simangele’s Hadebe’s first defence of her ABU Flyweight Championship, which she won at ESPN Africa Boxing 14. Having earned the right to challenge for the gold, Tanzania’s Stumai Muki will stand across Hadebe and look to derail the champion’s plans.
